A recent decision by the La Mesa City Council will affect the commute to Helix for some students, families, and staff. In response to a request by the residents of the Serramar housing development on the hill above Helix, the Council approved the placement of signs intended to limit traffic through the neighborhood.

Within the next 30 days, signs will be installed at the intersection of Sacramento Drive and High Street, restricting turns onto Sacramento Drive between the hours of 7:00am - 9:00am, and 2:00pm - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday. Drivers in violation of the signs are subject to citation by the La Mesa Police Department.

Drivers who travel High Street are advised to continue west past Sacramento Drive to Murray Hill Road and go north. To access the student lot, turn right on Orien at the top of the hill. Another option is to follow Murray Hill Road, which turns into Yale Avenue, to access the front of the school.
